Does this take place of an ultrasound ordered from my Doctor or health care provider?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! The sessions are of limited medical value (cardiac activity, fetal position, gender determination (if desired), and the number of babies, and SHOULD NEVER REPLACE regular prenatal care or diagnostic exams order by your Doctor or health care provider. Each client MUST be under the active care of a Doctor or health care provider before we are able to schedule a session.
Do I need a note from my Doctor or health care provider?
We require that you be under the active care of a Doctor or health care provider. Should you have an OB-GYN visit scheduled prior to your session with us, you may print off the Verification of Care form to take with you to have the Doctor or health care provider to complete. The office may fax the completed form to us directly, 704-883-8364, or simply bring the completed form with you to your appointment with us.
We also require that you bring a picture of your prior ultrasound with you so we may make a copy for our records. If you do not have an OB-GYN visit before your session with us, no problem, we will simply take care of your paperwork when you arrive. Be sure to arrive 5-10 minutes early.
Don't forget, you MUST bring a picture of your prior ultrasound with you so we may make a copy for our records.
Is ultrasound safe and what kind of equipment do you use?
Ultrasound has been used for over 30 years and has not been shown to cause harm to mother or baby. Our state-of-art ultrasound machine, GE 730 Voluson Pro, uses the same safe ultrasonic sound waves as used in your doctor's office.
How does ultrasound work?
A probe, called a transducer, is placed on the mother's belly. Ultrasound uses sound waves. These sound waves act as a radar to look inside the body. The return echo generates an image.
Do I need to make an appointment?
YES! We schedule our hours around our appointments. Some days fill up quicker than others. So call ahead to schedule. The more time we have to schedule your appointment, the more flexible we can be with days or hours available.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you MUST call 24 hrs. ahead of your scheduled time. Otherwise, you will be billed a $50 fee. Appointments that are made for the next day: as long as we reschedule the appointment, no fee.
To have the best session possible, what steps should I take to prepare for my visit?
Tips to obtaining the best pictures: You MUST DRINK PLENTY OF WATER 3 to 4 days before your appointment. When you are hydrated, this gives you the crisp and clear pictures. Once you are with us, we have no way of hydrating you! So it's VERY important that you do your part prior to your session. The day before your session and up to your session, please stay away from caffeine and carbonated drinks. This includes anything with high sugar content, such as juice, sweet tea & soda.
What should I wear?
Wear a two piece outfit so we may have easy access to your belly!
May I bring friends and family?
ABSOLUTELY! Mom may bring up to 8 additional guests to enjoy their baby's debut on our 7ft home theater screen. Little ones may come as well. Just make sure that you have an adult on hand incase they become a little anxious or need to go to the bathroom.
When is the best time to do a session?
Depending on what experience the family is wanting, that answer can vary. We focus on creating the best possible session for the experience of EACH family. There are three re-occurring scenario’s that come up:
- Mom is extremely anxious about finding out the gender of her baby and wants to know ASAP. In this case, she can come in as early as 18 weeks. Babies between the stages of 18 - 23 weeks have a “skinner” appearance. Open your hand. If you measure from the top of your middle finger to the bottom of your palm, this is approximately how big your baby is during this stage of development. A little person with a lot of growing to do.
- Mom is extremely anxious about finding out the gender of her baby, BUT wants to see a “chubby” baby. We can determine gender as early as 18 weeks, but the “chubby layer” doesn’t start developing until the 23 - 24 week stage. In this case we would recommend a few possibilities: Watch Me Grow session (gives the option for two visits) OR customize the session(s) that works best for you. Come early (18 - 23 wks) for a Guess Who? or Sneak Peek session and come back for a second session (24 + weeks) to see how much your baby has grown. Or if the Mom can take waiting a little bit later in the pregnancy to find out the gender of her baby and see those chubby cheeks in one session, then 27 + weeks would be a great fit for either the Watch Me Grow, Bundle of Joy or Sneak Peek sessions.
- Mom already knows the gender of her baby OR doesn’t want to know the gender of her baby. Keep the following in mind to help you determine what is best for you:
- *Guess Who? $95: Best time is 18 - 23 weeks; able to see your baby all in one frame. This 15 minute 2D session was designed for gender determination. We print out 2 4x6 photo's for you to take and share and includes a Mommy bag full of goodies!
- *Sneak Peek $140: Best time is 18 + weeks: This 25 minute session allows for more time with your baby so you”ll be able to enjoy seeing your little one in 2D, 3D, & 4D! This session includes: 3 4x6 photo's, a Keepsake, a cd/dvd of video segments, AND a Mommy bag!
- *Bundle of Joy $185: Includes your entire session on DVD! Best time is 18 + weeks: This 30/45 minute session includes 5 4x6 photo's, a Keepsake, entire session recorded on DVD set to lullaby music, and a Mommy bag! Our most favorite time for this session is 28 weeks. Your baby still has plenty of room to move around and he/she has also developed their “chubby layer”.
- *Watch Me Grow $220: The ultimate package with the most value! This 30/45 minute session is a must for families who want a fully documented pregnancy. This session comes with everything that the Bundle of Joy has with the addition of a separate CD of all of the 3D images that allow you to print off extra pictures and/or email friends and family. In addition, you may choose to come back later in your pregnancy to see how much your little one has grown! You receive all the goodies at the second session as you did the first; DVD, CD, 5 4x6 photo's, Keepsake, & Mommy bag, for $92.50 (pre-tax)! Best time for first visit 18 – 26 weeks. Best time for second session 28 – 34.
Most Mommies enjoy coming early in their pregnancy and then visiting later to see how much their baby has grown! With our packages, you’ll be able to find the right fit for your budget. * See Sessions page for all package details.
Is it true that I HAVE to find out the gender of my baby?
No. This is a big misconception about 3D/4D. We have families that do not want to know the gender and we can absolutely accommodate them. With our experience and using our techniques, we are able to stay far away from the “diaper zone” area!
If I am a bigger Mom, what will I be able to see?
Being overweight can cause some clarity issues. It is extremely important to be well hydrated before coming to see us. We recommend drinking the amount of water suggested by you OB-GYN, midwife or provider. It is best to drink water consistently. We recommend that three to four days before your session with us, really focus on your water intake. The ultrasound waves will have more to reflect off of which will help with clarity issues. Also, we like for all of our Mommies to stay away from caffeine and carbonation the day before your session and up to the day of your session with us.
What if you can't tell whether my baby is a boy or a girl?
If the little one is just not in a good position for us to make that determination, we will do a repeat scan during the same session. This usually allows the baby the chance to have changed positions. If these attempts fail, you will be allowed to schedule another 15 minute session during the week within a 14 day time frame at no cost to determine gender.
